The existing white kitchen was retained while the main cooking area was rebuilt around a timber surround, focused lighting and a statement splashback.
The existing cabinetry still worked, so replacing the whole room was unnecessary. The project concentrated effort on the cooking area, where a more deliberate structure and finish could change how the kitchen looked and felt.
The work required careful alignment with the retained units and worktop runs. The new hob and oven zone, timber feature surround, lighting and splashback had to read as part of the existing kitchen rather than as an isolated addition.
Partial refits demand restraint as well as workmanship. Existing units, levels, services and finishes set fixed boundaries, so every new element has to be checked against what remains.
This project shows the value of a focused scope: retain the sound kitchen, solve the main visual and practical weakness, and finish the altered area cleanly.
